Clothespin Gift Toppers


Supplies needed:
- Wooden clothespins - standard and/or smaller sizes. Standard pins can be found in most grocery stores (in the laundry isle) and Target | smaller versions are available in craft stores and online.
- Permanent double-sided tape - Available at office supply stores and Target
- Fine glitter - I used Martha Stewart's glitter in kunzite, garnet, and feldspar
- Craft scissors
- Small holiday figurines - such as bottlebrush trees available in craft stores, a snowman cupcake topper (with pick removed), and vintage miniature deer (similar to these ). Check the cake decorating isle at your local craft and grocery stores for some fun options. These gift toppers would also look great with a mini (shatter-proof) ornament, jingle bell, etc. Be creative and have fun with it.
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks - these are super affordable at craft supply stores
- Clear nail polish (optional)
- Fine-tipped pen (optional)
- Other accessories I used for wrapping (all featured in the December 2011 issue of Living):
-Blank gift tags- Ribbons
- Round paper mache gift boxes
Tape it. Simply place a strip of your permanent double-sided tape onto one side of your clothespin.

If you'd like to personalize your pins with a name, you can use two pieces of tape on your pin and write in the center...it will end up looking like this.

Trim the tape. Using a sharp pair of craft scissors, trim the excess tape from your pin. This will work best if you flip your pin over (sticky side down).

Glitter time! Lay your clothespin down on a piece of scrap paper, sticky side up (the scrap paper will come in handy for saving the leftover glitter).

Choices, choices! Once your pins are dazzling in their glitter coats, it's time to decide what you will top them with (you can also leave them plain if you prefer).

Carefully apply a small dot of hot glue onto your clothespin where you'd like your decorative piece to sit. Easy peasy!
